Just before my exams, about two months ago, I was heading to one of my last first-term-classes and then I suddenly felt it. I was getting a blister on each heel! As only recently my heals had healed from two serious blisters, you can imagine that I'd want to avoid new blister formation at all cost. I checked my watch and yep, I still had a bit of time left so I could hop into the (dollar-store-like) store I come across on my way to uni. I wanted to buy an extra pair of socks because from experience this has always helped me avoid blisters. I always buy my socks in this shop since they have such cute ones. Confession: I always buy socks in their children's department as they have thé best prints : ) Luckily, I have tiny feet that allow me to do so :D
Also this time, I found a pair I really liked. I picked them up and wanted to go and pay them, until I saw something right from the corner of my eye: thick fluffy socks with pink and white and a cat's face on them. They were adorable! I just had to go and check them out. Having arrived at their isle I also noticed another pretty pair. They were dark pink with blue hearts. On both of them, there was a label saying: 'These socks are five times warmer than regular socks'. I was a bit skeptical about that, because things like that are always used as a selling point to make you buy and that's just one of those things I don't buy. I really liked the socks though. Just because the way how they looked and felt. They were a bit pricey though, in student terms anyway. The cat socks cost €3,99 and the heart socks cost €4,99. My needed-for-blister-protection-socks cost only €0,89 luckily enough. I was in deep doubt. To buy or not to buy these socks? Did I really need them? Was there any way I could justify spending the extra money on them? Surely, they would be extremely comfy to wear while studying, but still. I had this hunch though. This nagging feeling in the back of my mind, you know that one you sometimes get but can't explain? Right, that one. I did not want to have to tell myself 'I told you so' so I bought them.
Back at home happened what happens a lot to me. I lost them :O That's just so typical me. Oh my gosh. I'm always ashamed about that. I always loose a ton of things. Actually, I do not really loose them of course since it happens at home (luckily!!!), but I lay them somewhere and then, afterwards, I just can't seem to find the thing anymore :O That's why I have quite a few pairs of mittens, hats, socks... :O But anyway, back to my socks : )
Do you know those days you have your period but it hurts so much that you feel sick and just want to hide in bed and sleep? Well, that's what happened today to me. I felt so awful and yeah, I have to admit, I hate taking pills of any kind. Only in a life-threatening situation I would take one. Only then. I just do not like what pills do to your body apart from the things they are supposed to do. I therefore also do not take any pain medication when I have period pain. I used to, but now I just won't. I know they are worse for me than my period pain so I try other methods to soothe it. As it is the weekend, I did not have to go to uni so I cuddled up on the sofa with my course book and a blanket, but it did not help. Anyway, I was at home. My socks I had lost luckily were too. I magically found them and put them on. I easily have cold feet, which, especially when heaving my period is disagreeable! I then have way more pain!
Thus, I put on my socks in the late afternoon. Usually, I prewash everything before wearing, but now I was in so much pain and discomfort I just could not be bothered, which does not happen often. Omgee, these socks are just amazing. I loooooove them! Big time! They feel like my feet have been wrapped in the warmest and most cosy blanket ever! I could feel my pain ebbing away almost instantly :D They are so comfy I'm still wearing them now. It's almost time for bed and then I will be wearing my night socks, but tomorrow I will put these on again. I'm wearing them over my regular socks :p They are so awesome! I can highly recommend wearing thick fluffy socks like these when you have your period. They work a treat!
