Amps for Africa is a project that wants to help girls being able to attend school all the time, even when they are menstruating.
For most of us this being able to attend school will sound very normal, most of us even take it for granted, but that´s not the case for everyone. For a lot of girls and women it´s still a luxury. In Africa (and probably a lot of other parts of the world) a lot of girls and women do not have access to any or any appropriate menstrual products while on their periods and therefore they cannot attend school while menstruating. This makes them miss out on about a week every month, which is a lot, since schooling is beneficial for every possible life aspect and highly benefits positive life outcomes later in life.
Amps for Africa is then thus an organization that donates reusable menstrual products to school girls in Africa so that they can attend school while on their periods. You can make or donate them, thus everyone interested can take part!
For those of you who want a little more background reading on what it´s like for a girl in Africa to go to school while on her period and how being a girl therefore sadly still affects schooling I highly recommend you read the following article.
For those of you that want to join this great project:
If you like to make some pads or wet bags yourself or want to donate undies or stain stick:

!! They also accept menstrual cups if you would like to donate one you just have laying around!! The menstrual cup that does not fit your needs can make a world of a difference to someone else!
If you like to donate pads but can't sew or the shipping is to expensive, you can also buy pads, wet bags and stain sticks on the following website. All items you buy will be integrally donated to the girls in Africa!
My donation certificate:
I feel so happy that I learned to sew, because now I can contribute not just by donating pads, but by making them myself! I will also be making some wet bags and pad wrappers. I will also be donating my two Si-bell cups as they do not fit my body shape. They will make a great cup now for someone who really needs one!
Photos of my donation! (most of the pads are new and all have been washed! some I bought a couple especially for this project, some I decided to donate just because I just wanted to give something that belonged to me, and a few that I used only a couple of times, and I also sewed two myself, and more will come if I find the time, just like two pouches for the two Si-Bells and a few wet bags and pad wrappers (photos of the latter still to come as they are not yet finished))
