Or at least, I learned sewing using a sewing machine. I already knew how to sew by hand, but, until now, using a machine had always looked a bit daunting to me. I don't really know why, but it sure did. Why did I then put my hesitations aside and learned it, is thanks to my lovely neighbour. She gave me some lavender flowers to put in 'little pouches' to be then laid in a wardrobe or other kind of cupboard to give off their nice smell to everything in it, and keep moths at bay. She suggested that I could use a handkerchief, a washcloth or an un-paper napkin as pouches. Of course this was a good idea and I contemplated it. It was just that I had some fabric lying around, begging me to be made into something nice, and an inherited sewing machine collecting dust. So I decided to make the pouches myself : ) The fabric was from un-dyed cotton thus I decorated them myself using a textile marker. The little strings that keep them closed, I also made myself. I am learning how to crochet so this was the perfect timing to put my newly acquired skills into use!
